The Tourism Space LIVE

17th January 2019, Thomond Park, Limerick

1.  Have you ever had any of these challenges?

As a business owner or manager in tourism, have you ever wanted to really spend some time on your own professional development but struggled to justify the time or money to do so? Sometimes the training events or conferences you attend are interesting, but perhaps not quite tailored to your particular business needs.  Do you find that for a whole day or two away from the office, it’s sometimes difficult to see how taking part has benefited your business?

On another level, have you ever felt overwhelmed by the many demands that come from outside your business from the external tourism environment?  Things like the expectations that you will deliver ever more exceptional visitor experiences, that you will contribute to your community, that you will actively protect the environment, that you will collaborate with others?  Sometimes it’s hard to cut through it all and find time to focus on your key business drivers?  Or sometimes to even know what they are?

2.  A common challenge

I get this.  Over the past 10 years, I have worked with hundreds of tourism enterprises and business managers, both individually and as networks.  As a coach and mentor, I have observed how many struggle with this particular challenge.  In an industry where high levels of self-motivation, creativity and energy are required just to complete an average day’s work, I notice how difficult it is for tourism entrepreneurs to make the time to step back from their businesses.  As a result, they often struggle with their own motivation and energy levels and their business clarity and confidence wanes.

As a small business owner myself, I truly do understand that when you are so consumed by running your business, it is so difficult to step back and work on your business.  I also know how easy it is to neglect investing in yourself, your mindset and your motivation.  However, I remind myself every day that the most important asset of my business is me.  I’m sure it’s the same for many businesses.  Looking after myself, honouring the vision I have for my business, investing in learning and my professional development are absolute commercial priorities for me.  I have worked hard to make it that way.

For the past year, the idea has been growing in my head that business leaders in tourism would benefit from dedicated professional development resources which focuses specifically on supporting people whose very livelihoods depend on their own performance and that of their tourism business.

3.  Introducing The Tourism Space LIVE

In this video, I announce a new event: ‘The Tourism Space LIVE’, a self-empowerment and professional development event for entrepreneurs and commercial leaders in Irish tourism.  It’s a one-day industry event focused exclusively on being in the business of tourism, and it will take place on 17th January 2019 in Thomond Park Limerick.

The Tourism Space LIVE is a forum that will bring together tourism business people and provide training and knowledge in a range of business areas that are within your control and that you are directly responsible for.  It’s an event about maximising your personal effectiveness in your business as well as the commercial performance of your business.

4.  Is it for you?

If you are driven, ambitious and enjoy having your perspective challenged, then this is the event for you.

If you are motivated by like-minded people and feel empowered by the success of others, then this is the event for you.

The Tourism Space LIVE will focus on your personal inspiration and motivation, helping you to achieve greater clarity and confidence. It will offer new perspectives on the business of tourism.   Hear from people in this industry who have challenged old assumptions and forged new ways forward.  Learn from those who have broken new ground operating in the same space as you.  It will also give time for you to think about business diagnostics, to zoom in on certain key commercial drivers of your business.
